About this Project

The purpose of this study is to conduct a 10 year longitudinal study in a representative population-based sample of 18,000 White, Black, Hispanic, and Asian men and women ages 35-84 at baseline to: a) evaluate various measures of subclinical cardiovascular disease (CVD); b) examine factors associated with progression of subclinical CVD to overt disease; and c) develop population-based methods for identifying high-risk asymptomatic persons for prevention and intervention.
