For over a decade, the Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine has strived to improve health literacy by working with patients and clinicians to develop plain language health education materials. Much of our work has focused on improving colorectal cancer screening and diabetes self-management. This website contains a compilation of the materials we have developed for these topics. These materials should allow you to conduct comprehensive colorectal cancer screening (including outreach) and diabetes education (including using videos as part of group classes). Below we provide brief descriptions of the materials that are currently available.
